Beach and Trains

Last week was Dylan's first week in his big boy bed and we had 5 good nights and 2 bad so I think we are making progress. On Friday we headed to Port Aransas for the weekend. The weather was a little cold and windy but we had a good, relaxing time. Dylan really enjoys the condo and the beach. He also really enjoys playing with Tyler. Tyler brought his trains and Dylan was obsessed with them. When Tyler left with his trains we had to go out and buy Dylan some. We bought him the Thomas starter set and then Monday on our way home - we met Clarice and Laura for lunch in Wharton and they gave him a Thomas engine that runs on batteries, a Thomas movie and some train tracks. That is all Dylan has played with since we got home!

Dylan is getting a few more teeth and also picked up the habit of saying "No". We think he learned this from Tyler but right now it is really cute. Another really cute thing Dylan did today that I wanted to share is that he picked a flower out in the back yard while playing with Magdalena and brought it in to me while I was working - such a sweet momma's boy!

Luckily Jessica had her camera so below are a few pics from the weekend.

Big Boy Bed

Since Dylan is still not a good sleeper we decided to make a change and try out a big boy bed. On Sunday, Steven took down his crib and him and my dad (Papa Johnny) converted the crib into a double bed for Dylan. As soon as Steven started taking the crib down Dylan got out his hammer and was helping! So far he has been sleeping better and seems to really enjoy his new bed. He was very excited to show Magdalena (his nanny) this morning. Stay tuned for pictures of the finished bed - I have not taken one yet!

1st Rodeo

I guess we have been really busy because I have not updated my blog in a long time. I know we spent a cold, rainy weekend at home and then last week I had to work in the office all week since our auditor was here. Steven's mom also came for a few days and it was nice to see her. Steven has been busy planning the CCA banquet and also working his rodeo shifts. Steven and I did make it out to see Gary Allen at the rodeo which was nice. Last Friday we took Dylan to the rodeo - just the kid activities. He was all decked out in his boots, jeans and denim shirt and looked very handsome. He really enjoyed the petting zoo, his 1st pony ride and seeing the cows! I think the cows were his favorite.

Petting a cow - Dylan is not scared of them at all.

Dylan on his 1st pony ride - what a big boy!

Looking handsome petting the pigs.

Long but Joyful Week

Dylan is on Day #4 of the stomach bug/flu and the best part is Steven is gone for work. That would explain why I am up so early this morning. Dylan is not keeping much down so he wakes up early very hungry. We will see how long his breakfast lasts today! We just got home from Austin Tuesday afternoon where Melinda is having a tough time also. She is on bed rest and both Layla and River are sick - with different stuff than Dylan has. Please pray for all of our sick babies!

In Austin we celebrated River's 1st birthday and Dylan got to jump around on a bouncing toy in the yard for the 1st time. Dylan had a good time playing with his cousins as always but was glad to get home. I think he missed his Diego couch, puzzles and his movie time. He now can do his wooden puzzles all by himself and likes for you to clap for him when he gets the pieces in. He also likes to clap for himself. I am not sure if I had something in my hands but I clapped for him with my fist closed the other day and he thought that was so funny and now claps for himself with his fists closed! He is now into the Cars movie. Our first copy is stuck in my car DVD player so I had to go buy a second copy yesterday because he kept requesting it. He is not spoiled!

Dylan and I are laying low until he is feeling better of course and until his Dad gets home. Yesterday I did register him for school next year. I did not think we were going to get into our first choice school but they opened another class and we got a spot! I was so excited. So next year Dylan will go two days a week to the same school as Austin (Rochelle's son) and Abby (Kim's daughter). Yeah!

Yesterday I got a very eye awakening email - it was from Joel Osteen of course. I do not know him personally but get his daily inspirational emails. The theme of his message is below:

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (I Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV).

I had been feeling a little bit of the blues lately with Dylan being sick, Steven being gone and still grieving for my grandmother but this helped me put things in perspective. God is good and life is good and I am going to be joyful. I have an awesome family and friends and the sweetest baby boy ever!

Fat Tuesday

As I mentioned below we went to Ragin Cajun last night to celebrate Fat Tuesday. The picture above is Dylan relaxing on his couch when we got home! He is taking after his parents who love to lay on the couch and watch TV. I thought it was too cute not to share.

February Catch-up

We have been home 4 weekends in a row which is a record for us so I do not know why I am so far behind in blogging. What have we been doing? It seems like nothing but we have been staying fairly busy. Steven is very busy with work - which is good - but of course we would like him at home more. Dylan has been very busy playing outside, doing puzzles, reading books and watching movies. He now likes Cars in addition to Nemo. Last weekend we kept Bentley and Dylan was so excited that Bentley was spending the night he hardly slept Thursday night. He calmed down over the weekend but really enjoyed Bentley's company and loved feeding him bones. Dylan was sad to see Bentley go home on Sunday but I am sure Bentley was ready for some peace and quiet. Dylan tried to get Bentley to play ball or look at his books all weekend but he was not interested. Luckily for Dylan we will see Bentley this weekend. Dylan has been a little sluggish this week I think he may be fighting a cold hopefully he will feel better soon.

I have been busy with work - audit time of year. Steven and I made it out for Valentine's (we celebrated the night before which was still crowded) and then again last week Steven and I went out for some good friends b-days. It was nice to have a night out and catch up with friends. Last night we celebrated Fat Tuesday at the Ragin Cajun. It was a little wild for Dylan so we did not stay too long. We are off to Austin this weekend to celebrate River's 1st birthday.

Below are my favorite pics from the photographer:

Dylan is 15 months and Happy B-day Steven

Other news in our lives - Dylan was 15 months on Feb 2nd and got a good report from the doctor. His weight is only in the 25% range which is lower than before but the doctor said he looked fine. He is not a big eater so I was not too surprised, his stats are below:

weight 22 lbs, 11 0z - 25%
height 32 inches - 50-75%
head 19.25 inches - 75-90% (this is the first time it was not 100%)

Last week we also had professional pics taken of Dylan and a few family shots. I am excited about them and hopefully we will get to see them this week - stay tuned.

Yesterday was Steven's 31st birthday. We had Chacho's breakfast with my sister's family who was here from Austin and then celebrated at dinner with my parents and Steven's dad. Dylan was tired and getting cranky at dinner so we had to cut it a little short. It was a calm birthday but I hope he enjoyed it. My dad took pics with his camera so hopefully I can add them in later.

Steven and I have been looking at houses and are starting to get frustrated with the process. We are looking a little West from our house and in the Spring Branch school district. We love our house but 1500 square feet is starting to feel a little cramped. Dylan and his toys are taking over. We really liked one we saw yesterday but today we found out it already had two bids on it. We decided we have to be much faster when we find one we like - lessons learned!
