November Birthdays!

November is the birthday month for our family. My mother's birthday was November 7th so we went to Austin to celebrate with her and my grandmother.

Over the weekend we are also went to Wurstfest with Melinda and Craig and the kids. It was beautiful weather and a lot of fun. Layla rode rides for the first time and Dylan enjoyed the polka music and stroller ride with River! Craig and Steven enjoyed the sausage and brew of course! I had a few myself.

Today was my dad's birthday and my brother, Momma Jolene and him all came over for dinner and ice cream cake. Dylan gets very excited when we sing happy birthday and thinks everyone is singing to him.

Also a happy birthday to Bryan, Steven's little brother, who turned 18 on November 15th and Memaw whose 75th birthday is Thursday.

We are still recovering from Zach and Kristen's wedding weekend and looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home and Thanksgiving! Below are a few recent silly pictures of Dylan.

1st Haircut

Today Dylan got his first haircut on his first birthday. He has needed a trim for awhile but Steven was against getting his haircut before his birthday. Dylan was a little upset at first but soon was playing in the little car and watching the movie they had playing while getting his hair trimmed. The hair sylist, Margarita, did a good job and he looks like such a little boy.

1st Birthday

Dylan's 1st birthday was today, November 2nd but we had his party yesterday at our house. We were excited that so many of his grandparents were able to be there. Grandma Diane came all the way from Atlanta, Grandpa Lee and Grandma Clarice came, Papa Johnny and Nana were there, and Momma Jolene (his great grandma) even came over for a little while. Our house was a little small for all of our guests but I think everyone had a good time. Dylan tried his first cup cake and did not seem to mind being the center of attention. Dylan enjoyed seeing all the other babies and playing with his cousins Layla and River. Dylan has been very busy playing with all of his new toys.

This morning, Aunt Melinda and Uncle Craig bought Dylan a birthday cinnamon roll and we put a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday again. Shortly thereafter, Dylan had a mini accident with one of his new toys and cut his face on a lawn chair outside. His first "bobo" on his first birthday. He fussed for a little while but does not seem to mind wearing the Scooby Doo band aid on his face. This afternoon we went for his first haircut but that will be in my next post. So many firsts this weekend.

1st Halloween

For Dylan's first Halloween he dressed as a monkey (in a hand me down costume from cousin Layla). We went trick or treating to just a few houses on our block with neighbors and friends, Ryan, Jessica and their son Tyler. Tyler was also dressed as a monkey. Grandma Diane was in town for Halloween and Dylan's 1st birthday. Dylan was not into the candy yet this year but did like all the trick or treaters who came to our house. We had so many that we ran out of candy by 8:30pm and called it a night.

A few more cute photos of Dylan

Dylan and I have been having a lot of mother/son bonding time as Steven was gone over the weekend and is leaving again today for a work trip. We have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying the pretty weather as Dylan would prefer to stay outside all day - the cold does not seem to bother him. He gets very excited when he sees a squirrel, cat or dog. He is now pointing at everything. On Saturday we went to Ashley's neighborhood Halloween party and Dylan put on his monkey costume. He was too little for the activities but we did go on a hay ride. Above are pics of Dylan and Hunter in their monkey costumes. We have also been busy preparing for his 1st birthday party - I can not believe he is about to be 1 years old. It has been such a fun, exciting year watching him grow up. I am looking forward to him walking, talking and sleeping through the night in his 2nd year.

October is flying by!

I have been stressed out since we have been out of town so much and I have not updated my blog (I am exaggerating only a little bit) or done anything else around the house. October 9th weekend we went to Austin to stay with my grandmother. We had a good time visiting her and Dylan enjoyed playing with his cousins Layla and River. On Sunday afternoon we took the kids to the pumpkin patch and picked out a few pumpkins for Memaw's house. Dylan mainly liked throwing the small pumpkins around. In addition to the pumpkin patch photos, I am also attaching a few photos of Memaw reading to her great grand babies Layla and Dylan who both love books and reading.

Last weekend we went to College Station - Dylan's first trip to Aggieland. Steven went to the game but Dylan and I just hung out with friends. It was very nice to see my college and EY friends Lindsey, Sarah and Heather and their families. Dylan really enjoyed all the other kids and toys. Attached is a picture of Dylan eating dinner with Lindsey's twin boys, Adam and Andrew.

Weekly Update

Well lots has happened in a week. The big news is Dylan has slept through the night twice - Hallalujah!! The first time ever was Friday night and then again Sunday night. Last night he woke up several times but just wanted his pacificer. Since he has not eaten during the night for a few nights hopefully this is becoming a trend.

Last week was also our first week with the nanny and me doing contract work from home. I think Dylan and I are doing well with her and I still get all day Monday and Friday with him. Magdelenna, the nanny, takes Dylan outside to play a lot which he enjoys. Our pool fence was installed last Thursday (pic above) so he can crawl around and we do not have to worry about him falling in the pool and we also bought him a play house with a slide. He is too small for the slide so far but enjoys playing in his house. (pics above). I like working from home more than I thought I would. Structure is laying off some contractors so we will see how long my sweet deal lasts!

Saturday night Steven and I hosted a wedding shower for Zach and Kristen at the Amardillo Palace and stayed out until midnight. It was fun to feel young again. Grandpa Lee kept Dylan and had to feed him dinner, bath him and put him to bed. I think it was a learning experience for both of them! Sunday we went to the lake with Ryan, Jessica and Tyler and Dylan enjoyed playing in the sand and water with the boys. They boys looked very cute in their life vests but we did not have a camera with us.

I have a few prayer requests this week. Please pray for my brother, Brandon who is having a tough time, my grandmother, Bonnie/Memaw who is ill and my mother who takes care of both of them.
