Dylan is 15 months and Happy B-day Steven

Other news in our lives - Dylan was 15 months on Feb 2nd and got a good report from the doctor. His weight is only in the 25% range which is lower than before but the doctor said he looked fine. He is not a big eater so I was not too surprised, his stats are below:

weight 22 lbs, 11 0z - 25%
height 32 inches - 50-75%
head 19.25 inches - 75-90% (this is the first time it was not 100%)

Last week we also had professional pics taken of Dylan and a few family shots. I am excited about them and hopefully we will get to see them this week - stay tuned.

Yesterday was Steven's 31st birthday. We had Chacho's breakfast with my sister's family who was here from Austin and then celebrated at dinner with my parents and Steven's dad. Dylan was tired and getting cranky at dinner so we had to cut it a little short. It was a calm birthday but I hope he enjoyed it. My dad took pics with his camera so hopefully I can add them in later.

Steven and I have been looking at houses and are starting to get frustrated with the process. We are looking a little West from our house and in the Spring Branch school district. We love our house but 1500 square feet is starting to feel a little cramped. Dylan and his toys are taking over. We really liked one we saw yesterday but today we found out it already had two bids on it. We decided we have to be much faster when we find one we like - lessons learned!

Sad News

I have been MIA on blogging for awhile but I just did not know how write about such a big event in my life that was so sad. My grandmother, Memaw, passed away Friday, January 30th. She was a very private person so I will not reveal too much about her except she was a loving, wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. Her service was held this past Saturday and was simple but beautiful. My family and I are all doing well but just miss her so much. I know that time and lots of prayers will help the tears stop and fill the empty place in my heart. I know that she is in a much better place and no longer suffereing so that brings me comfort. Below I am putting one of my favorite pics of her with with Dylan when she met him for the first time.

Nemo!

I feel like all we having been doing is watching Nemo! Dylan is obsessed but it is too cute. He watched it on the way to Austin last weekend with no sound (Steven is working on that). Then he watched it with his cousin Layla at least twice over the weekend and sometimes by himself before bed. He also watched it the whole way home and everyday this week so far. He likes to sit on his couch and watch it and sometimes plays with his toys but insist that it be playing on the tv. He can not say fish yet but points and the tv and says, "ish, ish." We have tried other movies - Lion King and Curious George but he only likes Nemo so far.

We had a nice weekend in Austin. My grandma was more alert than on our last visit so that was nice. Melinda and I were able to sneak away to a designer garage sale (new clothes they just sale them at a discount) and I got some fancy designer clothes - now I just need somewhere to wear them to! Dylan as always had a great time playing with Layla and River. Dylan started sleeping much better over the weekend and it has continued this week - he still wakes up and wants in our bed but does not need a bottle just goes back to sleep. It is a nice change that I hope continues. We are looking forward to a weekend at home, Steven's mom is coming in town (not for a happy occasion) but it will be nice to see her.

Please pray for Steven, his mom and their family. His grandmother passed away today.

Friends and a few more firsts

Last Thursday we went to dinner with good friends, Ashley and Bill and their son Hunter. Hunter and Dylan sat next to each other and shared food and toys. Dylan who loves cows kept pointing at the cow head on the wall (at Escalantes) - he loved it!

After a lot of back and forth we ended up staying home over the weekend. Friday afternoon we went to look at a few houses - none of them were perfect. Friday evening Steven and I went to the Shriner Awards Banquet. WGA sponsored the Shriner football game this year so we were invited and ex A&M quarterback Stephen McGee was seated at our table right next to Steven. Pretty neat and we did not even take a picture. Saturday, I took Dylan to his 1st Gymboree class. He loved being around all the other kids, playing on the slides and with the big bouncy balls. He did not like the class activities but just wanted to run around.

On Sunday Dylan was not behaving during church so Steven took him to the nursery - this was another first for him. We picked him up after communion and they said he was very good and did not miss us once - just played. Church will be a lot more meaningful and relaxing not trying to keep him quiet and in his seat. Sunday I got in some girl time and saw Bride Wars with high school girlfriends. Very good girl movie. Steven and Dylan had some man time with friends Lyon and Barton. Barton is a few months younger than Dylan but they seemed to enjoy each others company.

Dylan is talking more than every now - most of it still does not make sense. He also has more energy than ever - I think he is wearing out Magdalena - his nanny. He is trying to only take one nap a day and other than that just wants to play all day. I bought him the Little People Noah's Ark which came with a lot of animals and he loves them. He carries them all around the house, puts them on his couch, etc. He is also obsessed with The Little People Zoo Book. I sometimes have to hide this from him because when we wakes up at night he wants to read it! His other 1st is that he likes watching movies. Mainly just Nemo - he loves to see the fish on TV. He will sit on his couch and watch it for about 30 minutes and sometimes laugh out loud. It is too cute.

We are off to Austin Thursday to visit my family and Steven has a work conference there this weekend also.

09 is flying by

Check out my mohawk!

I can not believe tomorrow is already the 15th. We went to Austin again last week to visit my grandma, mom and we stayed with Melinda, Craig, Layla and River. Dylan had a wonderful time playing with his cousins and learned how to ride on a car and push it with his feet. He previously had only been able to go backwards but after watching Layla and River scoot around on their cars he figured it out. Smart boy! He is also saying a few more words now in additional to shoes and duck - car, cow, moo and ball. All the important things in his life! Dylan also slept in his own bed last night from 9pm-5am which is a long time for him. Hopefully this will continue.

Please continue to pray for peace and comfort for my grandmother.

Home Sweet Home

Dylan napping on his couch!

We were all a little tired from our holiday travels. We returned home Dec 30th from Atlanta. I am proud to report that Dylan was excellent on the plane both ways. He was a little cranky while we were in Atlanta I think he may have had a cold or been teething. We had a nice Christmas celebration and visit with Diane, Joe and Bryan. Dylan enjoyed exploring their house, their fish tanks and cats. Grandma and Grandpa babysat one afternoon and Steven, Bryan and I went to see the Benjamin Button movie which was really good!

The three of us had a quiet New Year's Eve at home. Dylan stayed up to 10 and Steven and I did make it to midnight. I enjoyed last week a lot since Steven was off work still and I was able to sleep late more than normal.

This week is back to work and our normal routine. Dylan does not take naps very well for me unless I sleep with him in my bed so he has not been on any kind of a schedule these last few weeks. I have enjoyed all his talking, our walking trips outside and his attempts to rearrange our house. He is very through and not a cabinet or drawer goes undiscovered. Today Magdelenna his nanny is back and of course he has taken his two naps and seems to be back on schedule. He still does not sleep through the night but usually wakes up once has a bottle and then sleeps with Steven and I. I think if we put him to bed in our bed for the night he would make it all night. For now we are still trying to get him to sleep in his crib at least part of the night.

Steven, Dylan and I are doing well and looking forward to a new year together. Please pray for peace and comfort for my grandmother who is ill and stregnth for my mother who takes such wonderful care of her. I love them both!
